Staff Assembly is proud to present the Staff Assembly Professional Development Sponsorship Program and the Staff Assembly Scholarship for Continued Education for UC Merced staff. The purpose of these two programs is to encourage and support staff participation in opportunities of professional and personal development. These two programs were made possible through the support from the Chancellor’s Office and guidance from Human Resources.
Staff Assembly Professional Development Sponsorship Program
The Staff Assembly Professional Development Sponsorship Program is created to encourage, sponsor and support staff in seeking professional opportunities that may be related to their current role and responsibilities or related to an area of growth that the staff is seeking to obtain as part of their career trajectory. Applications will be available throughout the fall and spring semester of a fiscal year for professional development sponsorship and should be submitted in advance of attending or participating a program. Awards may be used to cover the cost of registration fees, conferences, travel, training, and other university approved expenses (Travel and Expense Management Policies). The number of awards offered, and amount will be limited by the amount of funding available each fiscal year. Applicants are encouraged to apply in advance of any development opportunity to give the selection committee time to review applications for sponsorship and availability of funding.
Staff Assembly Scholarship for Continued Education
The Staff Assembly Scholarship for Continued Education is created to provide financial support for staff who are working on expanding their educational growth at an accredited institution, earning an associate degree, obtaining their bachelor’s degree, or expanding their breadth of knowledge in master or doctoral programs. Specific amount and number of scholarships awarded will vary each year and is determined by the amount of funding available in that fiscal year. The Staff Assembly Scholarship is offered once a year. Recipients of the scholarship are selected from a committee comprised of volunteer staff across the campus and led by member/s of the Staff Assembly Board.
