I have been employed in my present position as HR Business Partner (HRBP) since 7/1/14. In my current role I am deployed to provide client forward HR leadership to my campus clients. In this role I have the opportunity to get involved with the myriad of HR related staff interest, topics, and issues. This entails facilitating effective communications, compliance, and problem solving in areas of Employee and Labor Relations, compensation/classification, talent acquisition, disability management, professional development. My current position provides me with opportunity to frequently interact with the wide range of staff professionals employed at UCM. Prior to my current Business Partner role in HR, I came to UCM in September 2013 to work for in the HR Department as the Disability Management Rep for UCM.

I have been serving as a Staff Assembly (SA) Executive Board member for the past year, and for the full term in 2015-16, as Secretary for the Board. As part of my Board responsibilities I have participated and volunteered for leadership assistance as an Executive Board member with numerous SA sponsored/supported activities and events (UCM United Way Campaign, Giving Tuesday, Staff Appreciation Week, Chancellor's Staff Convocation, Chancellor's Holiday Toy Drive, UCM Food Bank, etc).

I have been in regular attendance is the monthly Staff Assembly Executive Board Meeting for the past year, and as a result I am responsible for capturing the Board Meeting minutes and presenting for Board Approvals each month. My committee works, events participation, and campus activities mostly all originate from my current Board position, and it is within that structure that I am fortunate to be able to be involved with many of the key initiatives and events that the Board will support and sponsor throughout the year. This is very special because Staff Assembly activities are focused specifically on staff related areas of functions and interests, so this has provided me with a broad perspective of the incredible value of all staff employees at UCM.

In the position of Vice President, if I am elected I believe I will be able to contribute more fully in the 2016-17 year as I have experienced and learned a lot in 2015-16 with my first year of service on the Board, as Secretary. I also believe I will be able to utilize my broad exposure to many campus staff employees and issues to bring additional insight into the Board's deliberations and activities. I feel I have a strong working relationship with the current Board and campus staff that I would like to extend more fully to help enable an even better 2016-17 year, than what the 2015-16 Staff Assembly year has been. There are many challenges ahead for this campus as we strive to successfully meet the objectives for 2020. I am convinced that all great things occur through our workforce, and in particular, our staff at UCM are foundational for this campus to support a strong learning and research environment and reputation. In my view, the Staff Assembly Executive Board is the best place to pursue the most positive and impactful contribution with staff related issues, and I would be honored if I would be allowed to extend my service to the Board in the capacity as Vice President to the Board.
