As a CUCSA Delegate, you'll represent UC Merced while working alongside staff leaders from every UC campus, sharing ideas, discussing systemwide initiatives, and helping shape the future of staff engagement throughout the University of California.
What is CUCSA?
In support of the mission of the University of California, it is the purpose of the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) to maintain and enhance communication within the University Community on matters of interest to staff employees in accordance with California laws and Regent policy.
The constituency of the Council is understood to be staff employees of the University of California. The Council is involved in matters of interest and concern to those who are not exclusively represented and may address matters not within the scope of representation for those exclusively represented. CUCSA works to address staff issues and promote better conditions for everyone across the entire UC system. CUCSA is comprised of two delegates from each of the UC campuses. They meet once per quarter at a different campus to discuss and address staff issues

Responsibilities
- Attend quarterly CUCSA meetings (travel required)
- Participate in virtual meetings throughout the year
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the UC Merced Staff Assembly
- Attend designated Staff Assembly meetings
- Share information and recommendations with Staff Assembly
- Serve a two-year delegate term
Eligibility
To be eligible to serve as a UC Merced CUCSA Delegate, applicants must:
- Be a policy-covered (non-represented) career employee at UC Merced.
- Have completed at least one year of UC service at the time of application.
- Be able to participate in quarterly in-person CUCSA meetings hosted at various University of California locations (travel expenses are covered by Staff Assembly).
- Be willing to participate in virtual meetings and delegate activities throughout the year.
- Obtain supervisor support and endorsement confirming participation in required meetings, travel, and associated Staff Assembly responsibilities during normal business hours.
- Demonstrate a commitment to representing the interests of all UC Merced staff, not just their own department or unit.
Please note: Eligibility requirements will be verified during the application process. Applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements will be invited to continue through the selection process.
