As the current Director of Alumni Relations, I currently manage an alumni constituency group that is approaching 5,000 individuals. Within my role, I oversee both on and off campus events, programs and initiatives that benefit students, alumni, faculty and staff. As a former student of UC Merced, I have fostered and maintained relationships with campus and community members, and collaborate with various department colleagues on a regular basis.
Prior to serving in a staff position at UC Merced, I had volunteered as a founding UC Merced Alumni Association Board Member. Additionally, I continue to volunteer my time as head coach of the UC Merced Bobcat Martial Arts Team which is housed in Recreation & Athletics.
Recently, I have attended the previous two World Cafe discussions regarding the evolving workplace and millennial/emerging professionals. Attending these discussions have prompted me to consider ways that I could get involved in a leadership role within Staff Assembly. I also participated in the Staff Assembly Games for 2015 in the Fun League as a part of the winning team -- O.G. Bobcats.
I believe my experience, creativity and collaborative efforts with various colleagues across campus would enable me to accurately represent the staff at large and further the mission of Staff Assembly. My current staff role has equipped me with the skills to represent a wide range of individuals in a similar organizational structure to that of Staff Assembly. Lastly, I believe I can help further the discussion on the evolving workplace as we look ahead to 2020 and represent the emerging professional constituency group.
