Charge:  To develop UCM Affirmative Action/EEO Policy, development of Discrimination Complaint Procedure, evaluation and monitoring of UC Merced’s Affirmative Action Programs, tie the AA goals to UCM recruitment process, design training and education related to the plans, audit campus personnel programs to measure the extent to which goals have been attained, and facilitation of campus-wide programs and projects to promote diversity.

Charge: The charge of the Budget Committee is to review campus budget proposals and make recommendations to the Chancellor.

Committee Meetings: once a month for 2 hours at a time

The charge of the Campus Physical Planning Committee (CPPC) is to provide advice to the Chancellor with respect to the physical planning and capital development of the UC Merced campus.  The CPPC provides an efficient forum for obtaining input on campus development issues from a wide range of campus constituencies. The CPPC makes recommendations to the Chancellor regarding:

 

• The Long Range Development Plan;

• The Physical Design Framework;

• The ten-year Capital Financial Plan (CFP);

• Major real estate development proposals;

• Proposed sites for new buildings, infrastructure and projects: major roads, walks, utilities,

• landscaping, installations and alterations;

• Project Naming (sub-committee)

Committee Meetings: Once a month for 1.5 hours

Charge: To promote environmental stewardship and development that is based on ecological principals at the University of California, Merced. Sustainability refers to the physical development and institutional operating practices that meet the needs of present users without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, particularly with regard to the use and conservation of natural resources. The committee is charged with advising the Chancellor on matters pertaining to environmental sustainability, goals, policies, and practices at UC Merced.

Term date: 9/1/12 - 8/31/13

Committee meetings: 1-2 hours a month

Charge: The committee will be dedicated to improving conditions for women and gender equity on campus. The charge to the committee is: to identify and analyze issues relating to the status of women at UC Merced, including faculty, staff and students; to inform and educate the campus community about conditions that affect the status of women within the university; and to advise and make recommendations to the chancellor regarding policies and procedures that would improve conditions for women.

Term date: 9/1/12 – 8/31/14 (2 Year appointment)

Charge: Make recommendations regarding the program, services, functions, and other child care related issues. This committee will provide technical expertise necessary to address issues regarding the quality and affordability of child care, proposed changes in policy, and long range planning for the center.

Charge: As part of its ongoing focus to enhance diversity system-wide, the University of California has asked that each of its 10 campuses establish advisory councils on climate, culture and inclusion.  Keeping with the guidance provided by the UC Office of the President, the council will be advisory to the chancellor and will include individuals with substantive expertise in diversity from represented constituencies including faculty, students, alumni, staff, administrators and community members.

Charge: The Commencement Speaker Selection Committee is appointed by the Chancellor and is charged with soliciting nominations, reviewing and then recommending two to four possible speakers to the Chancellor and the Cabinet.  Non-student members, with the exception of the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC) and chair of the Divisional Council of the Academic Senate, are appointed for three year terms; student members for one year.

Committee Meetings: 1 meeting per quarter

Charge: To establish the Charter for the Office, strategic planning, advising on website content, advisor to the Ombuds on services to campus, respond to comments/complaints about the Office, serve as "Ambassador" for the service to constituencies.

Term Date: 10/1/2013 – Completion

Charge: The campus Space Advisory Committee (SAC) has charged and requested the formation of a campuswide Ad-hoc Space Reservation System Work Group (Work Group) to make recommendations on how best to consolidate and improve existing reservation options for the UC Merced campus community.  Specifically, the Work Group is asked to:

1.  Identify and create an inventory of schedulable spaces that can be made available to the campus, along with instructions for use.  This information should be made easily available to the campus; 

2.  Identify how conference rooms and hotel offices are scheduled and determine if system consolidation or simplification is possible from the stand point of the administrator and the user (“one stop shopping”);

3.  Identity and include special conditions, priority use, or other restrictions on space that will need to be part of a room reservations system;

4.  Explore methods for preventing double booking and unused scheduled rooms;

5.  Make recommendations to the SAC, including resource requirements, policies or procedures in support of an improved room reservation system for the campus community; and

6.  Complete the workgroup’s  work within 90 days of the initial meeting.

Term date: 9/1/12 - 8/31/13 

Committee Meetings: 2x per year, one fall and one spring, 2 hours each

Charge: Training and Development (T&D) Committee that would be part of designing the vision, mission, and strategies of the program. As a side note, this committee would be separate from the UC Merced American with Disabilities Act Committee whose responsibility (among many other things) would be to design ADA training. However, I would envision both committees being in coordination along with another committee to be formed called the EEO/Diversity & Affirmative Action Committee. All committees play a significant role during Accreditation visits, discrimination complaints, and any discipline cases supervisors are involved in.

Term date: 11/1/12 - 10/31/13

Charge: To assist the Vice Chancellor of Administration in the formulation of policies and procedures related to the overall transportation and parking program at UC Merced. This includes, but is not limited to, vehicles, bicycles, pedestrian traffic as well as the operations and services of the CatTracks and County transit systems; to provide a communication link between the users of the transportation programs and those responsible for providing such programs and enforcing the regulations governing them.

Term date: 3/19/12 - project completion 

Coordinate and centralize service related activities on-campus such as service-learning, community engaged scholarship (CES), volunteering and internships. University and Community members should have the ability to: 1) Find and participate in meaningful service opportunities; 2)  Discuss and find resources and support for service related ideas and 3)  Participate in capacity building workshops which will help each party create mutually beneficial and successful service opportunities with sensitively to respective goals (publishing, fulfilling org mission, etc.) 

Term date: 9/1/12  - project completion 

Committee members are charged with the evaluation of current signage and identification of additional signage that will improve access to campus and make for a better experience for all who come to UC Merced.  A Facility Engineer from Facilities Management will manage implementation.  Committee participation includes discussion and fieldwork to evaluate the possibilities.
