Biography: 

 

Jose L. Medina III, a native of Merced, is dedicated to promoting college access for rural students. At Fresno State (2018-2022), he held various roles in Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. Currently, he is the Coordinator for Summer Bridge & Community Partners Programs at UC Merced's Calvin E. Bright Success Center. His past roles include positions in External Relations (2023-2024) and the School of Engineering (2022-2023), as well as being the inaugural Admissions Outreach Specialist at California Health Sciences University (2022). Jose holds a BA in History and an MS in Counseling with a focus on Student Affairs from Fresno State. He is pursuing a doctorate in education at St. Cloud State University. His leadership roles include Vice President of the UC Merced Staff Assembly, Chair of Outreach for the Staff and Faculty of Color Association, and President of the California College Personnel Association (CCPA). His work and research supports equity minded practices for the region's students.
