ECEC Advisory Board Staff Representative, 2014-2016
SSHA Search Committees: various, 2011-2015
In August 2014, I was selected to be the Staff Representative to the ECEC Advisory Board, which is a two year commitment. This board has had 4 meetings so far this year, with at least one other anticipated before the start of the next Academic Year. I have attended Executive Board meetings as often as my schedule has allowed, and reported ECEC Advisory Board updates to Vice President Pam Taylor when I have not been able to attend. Staff Appreciation Week is always an exciting week, and I am looking forward to participating in some of the events scheduled for next week.
The role of (Co-)Chair for Programs, Events and Outreach seems like an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Executive Board. I believe that staff voice, including representation in committees across campus is crucial, and sometimes undervalued. I think that encouraging staff to participate in Staff Assembly meetings, as well as events and advisory boards whenever possible is important, and I would like to help facilitate this and make Staff Assembly more visible across campus.

In my current position I work closely with faculty and staff, and I think that my organizational skills, experience with event coordinating, as well as my ability to work and collaborate well with others would be an asset to the Executive Board. I have loved being a part of UC Merced since I started in 2011, and I am eager and ready to contribute and take on more responsibility beyond what my job entails.
