Affirmative Action/EEO Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Mary Ann Coughlin

Term Date: 9/1/12 - 8/31/13

Charge:  To develop UCM Affirmative Action/EEO Policy, development of Discrimination Complaint Procedure, evaluation and monitoring of UC Merced’s Affirmative Action programs, tie the AA goals to UCM recruitment process, design training and education related to the plans, audit campus personnel programs to measure the extent to which goals have been attained, and facilitation of campus-wide programs and projects to promote diversity.      

Budget Committee

Charge: The charge of the Budget Committee is to review campus budget proposals and make recommendations to the Chancellor.

Campus Physical Planning Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Joe Wilensky

Charge: The CPPC provides advice, guidance, and recommendations to the chancellor and campus development staff about major physical and capital improvement decisions for on and off-campus development. The CPPC insures that the physical development of campus is reviewed in the context of academic planning efforts.

Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Sustainability

Charge: To promote environmental stewardship and development that is based on ecological principals at the University of California, Merced. Sustainability refers to the physical development and institutional operating practices that meet the needs of present users without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, particularly with regard to the use and conservation of natural resources. The committee is charged with advising the Chancellor on matters pertaining to environmental sustainability, goals, policies, and practices at UC Merced.

Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Women            

Staff Assembly Representative: Janey Jennings
Term Date: 9/1/12 - 8/31/13
Charge: The committee is dedicated to improving conditions for women and gender equity on campus. The charge to the committee is to identify and analyze issues relating to the status of women at UC Merced, including faculty, staff and students; to inform and educate the campus community about conditions that affect the status of women within the university; and to advise and make recommendations to the chancellor regarding policies and procedures that would improve conditions for women.

Child Care Advisory Council

Staff Assembly Representative:  Nichole Kosier
Term Date: 9/1/12 – 8/31/14 (2 Year Appointment)
Charge: To make recommendations regarding the program, services, functions, and other child care related issues. This committee will provide technical expertise necessary to address issues regarding the quality and affordability of child care, proposed changes in policy, and long range planning for the center.

Chief Information Office Search Advisory Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Karen Meade
Term Date:  November 2012 to Conclusion
Charge:  To identify a high level manager to lead the creation and operations of Academic and Business and Enterprise computing at UC Merced and facilitate an environment conducive to Research computing.

Classroom and Academic Office Building Advisory Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Joe Wilensky
Term Date:  4/23/12 to Completion (January 2014)
Charge:  The committee will be responsible for monitoring the project’s scope, schedule, and budget and conformance to the campus capital financial plan and physical planning framework. An important component of the University’s capital planning and design process entails incorporating environmentally sustainable features, including a special focus on the conservation of natural resources.

Commencement Speaker Selection Committee

Term Date: Ongoing
Staff Assembly Representative: Rachael Martin (Appointed as President)
Charge: The Commencement Speaker Selection Committee is appointed by the Chancellor and is charged with soliciting nominations, reviewing and then recommending two to four possible speakers to the Chancellor and the Cabinet.   

Council on Campus Climate, Equity and Inclusion

Staff Assembly Representative:  Danielle Waite
Term Date: 9/1/12 to Completion
Charge: As part of its ongoing focus to enhance diversity system-wide, the University of California has asked that each of its 10 campuses establish advisory councils on climate, culture and inclusion.  Keeping with the guidance provided by the UC Office of the President, the council will be advisory to the chancellor and will include individuals with substantive expertise in diversity from represented constituencies including faculty, students, alumni, staff, administrators, and community members.  

Human Resources Performance Evaluations Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Rachel Hadley
Term Date:  7/3/12 to Completion
Charge:  To establish performance management as an organizational priority and to provide enhanced tools that will help maximize its effectiveness, by reviewing current forms and processes and makerecommendations for changes.

Office of the Ombuds Advisory Board

Staff Assembly Representative:  Oliver Nandkishore
Term Date:  9/1/12 to 8/31/13
Charge: To establish the Charter for the Office, strategic planning, advising on website content, advisor to the Ombuds on services to campus, respond to comments/complaints about the Office, serve as "Ambassador" for the service to constituencies.

Student Housing Phase 4 Building Advisory Committee

Training and Development Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Elizabeth McMunn-Tetangco

Charge: Assists in designing the vision, mission, and strategies of the program.

Transportation and Parking Advisory Committee      

Staff Assembly Representative:  Katie Unruh
Term Date: 11/1/12 - 10/31/13
Charge: To assist the Vice Chancellor of Administration in the formulation of policies and procedures related to the overall transportation and parking program at UC Merced. This includes, but is not limited to, vehicles, bicycles, pedestrian traffic as well as the operations and services of the CatTracks and County transit systems; to provide a communication link between the users of the transportation programs andthose responsible for providing such programs and enforcing the regulations governing them.

University-Community Engagement Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Anne DiCarlo
Term Date: 3/19/12 to Project Completion
Charge:  Coordinate and centralize service related activities on-campus such as service-learning,
community engaged scholarship (CES), volunteering and internships. University and Community members should have the ability to: 1) Find and participate in meaningful service opportunities; 2)  Discuss and find resources and support for service related ideas and 3)  Participate in capacity building workshops which will help each party create mutually beneficial and successful service opportunities with sensitively to respective goals (publishing, fulfilling org mission, etc.)

Vice Chancellor for Planning & Budget Search Advisory Committee

Staff Assembly Representative:  Annette Garcia

Charge:  To identify a high level planning and budget officer to fill the newly created executive leadership position of Vice Chancellor for Planning and Budget.
