Fall is in full swing, and our campus has a busy month of activities planned that are of interest to new and veteran employees. More information on these events can be found in this week’s issue of Panorama:

Oct. 11

Travel Office Open House: Curious about University of California travel policies and procedures? Attend the UC Central Travel Office’s open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in KL 232. The event will include an overview of travel services and meet-and-greet. For more information, visit the Travel Office website

Oct. 14

Merced 2020 Project Groundbreaking Ceremony: Join campus leaders, distinguished guests and supporters to celebrate building the future and kick off the construction phase of the 2020 Project. A short groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. in the South Bowl.

Oct. 17

Staff Assembly General Meeting: Staff Assembly meets the third Monday of each month from noon to 2 p.m. at rotating locations. Staff Assembly exists to advocate for the needs of staff to senior leadership and cultivate a positive workplace culture at the university. The next meeting will take place at The Promenade Suite M, 755 E. Yosemite Ave. (next to Fresh Cleaners). Visit the Staff Assembly website for more information.  

Oct. 19

Rainbow Lunch Series: The Rainbow Lunch Series offers staff and faculty members, and post docs who identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum meet and build community for support. The brown bag takes place from noon to 1 p.m. RSVP to get location information. Questions? Contact Angi Baxter.

Oct. 21

Lecture: Cultivating Diversity: LuoLuo Hong, vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at San Francisco State University, will present a talk on understanding and cultivating diversity on a college campus. The talk will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in COB1, Room 105. To RSVP or for more information, email the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women.

Oct. 24

Spendlove Prize Ceremony: The Spendlove Prize honors those who can serve as a role model and inspiration for students, faculty, and the community surrounding UC Merced. On Oct. 24, UC Merced will honor Anita Hill, attorney and professor of social policy, law and women's studies at Brandeis University, as the 10th winner of the Spendlove Prize. The ceremony will take place at the Art Kamangar Center at the Merced Theatre at 6 p.m. Registration to attend is required.
