Staff Excellence Awards Nominations due April 7

April 7, 2014

With the results for our Staff Excellence Awards Criteria poll in, we would like to announce that the proposed new criteria received more votes than the previously used criteria. As such, we will be moving forward with the new criteria as presented last week.

Staff Assembly will now be taking nominations for the 2014 Staff Excellence Awards (SEA). Please find below the full criteria for making a nomination, the distinct categories to be nominated for, and the judging process used. The deadline for submitting a nomination is April 7, 2014 at noon. The Staff Excellence Awards will be presented by the Chancellor at the Staff Appreciation Week picnic, in recognition of a staff member’s outstanding service to the University and the community. One award will be given in each of the five new SEA categories. Any category that does not receive a nomination will not be awarded, nor will an additional award be given in a separate category. Forms can be completed and submitted electronically by clicking this link: Staff Excellence Awards 2014 or by printing and  sending both the completed hard copy nomination and endorsement forms with original signatures to Joe Wilensky, Office of Governmental & Community Relations, KL 336F.

Given previous confusion, I would like to clarify who is selected to be a SEA judge. The Vice President of Staff Assembly chairs the Staff Excellence Awards Committee comprised of Staff Assembly members who have previous indicated a desire to on the Committee (indicated when you opted-in to the Staff Assembly email list-serve). This Committee’s role includes reviewing the SEA criteria, promoting the awards to the community, improving the SEA process when needed, and selecting members for the SEA review Committee.

The Review Committee, which remains anonymous, consists of 5-7 members, including a previous year award recipient, one to two faculty members, an academic staff member, an administrative staff member, and a member of the Executive Board of Staff Assembly (typically the Past-President). As mentioned previously, the Review Committee is proposed by the SEA Committee and confirmed by the Staff Assembly Executive Board. The Review Committee will evaluate all eligible nominations submitted and determine the award recipient in each of the five categories. Review Committee members are barred from submitting nominations or endorsing a nominee and cannot vote for a family member or relative.
